CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Earth Monkey Productions is a new net label based on Barrow Island in Cumbria. It
will be releasing free music with a focus on experimental, electronic, sound art
and spoken word. The first 3 album releases are available now via
http://www.earthmp.com - for free download (under Creative Commons licence) with
full artwork. They are:
- clutter - shopping in a shipyard town (emp001)
- manassas - live at the cavendish (emp002)
- manassas - vague recollections on lost highway (emp003)
The next set of releases is set to be by Barrow Island's The Cardboard Lung,
1000 Aeroplanes Crashing In The Night (USA) and The Weedhaven Laughing Academy
(Canada) Earth Monkey is also looking to release music by others in the
experimental/electronic/sound art vein. This will be curated by Shaun Blezard.
Spoken word releases will be on the sub label Talking Monkey, curated by South
Cumbrian Poet Laureate Ann Wilson.
We are also looking for music/spoken word on the subject of FALLING for our first
in a series of themed releases - this can be anything as long as it relates to
falling.
- All tracks will be available free to download on Earth Monkey Productions via
The Internet Archive with full artwork.
- The tracks will be licensed under the Creative Commons Licence - check out
http://www.earthmp.com for full details of the exact type.
- The artist can withdraw their tracks at any time.
- The artist will have full control of their art.
- Earth Monkey will not release hard copies of the tracks without first
contacting the artist and asking permission, then a suitable profit share will
be discussed.
- The artist may press any number of hard copies and keep the money for themselves.
- Earth Monkey will try and get good exposure for all artists equally.
The official launch of Earth Monkey Productions (In association with Fledgling
Media) will be held at The Nest, Rawlinson Street, Barrow-in-Furness on
19th - 21st May 2006. This will include live webcasts to and from The Nest from
around the globe including live music sets, live visuals, spoken word and
whatever else we can think up. The weekend will also include the launch of a
multi media exhibition by Ann Wilson and Shaun Blezard. This is the first in a
series of such events and again we are on the look out for people who wish to
take part.
