There’s been an awful lot going on this month as you’ll see by our features

opposite! We’ve also had some great blog posts hit the site during the last couple of weeks which apart from being hugely entertaining, reflect an amazingly high standard of writing. This is one of the great strengths of Writelink and one of which I’m very proud. Unlike a lot of similar sites, Writelink’s members are all creative writers of some degree and are committed to the craft which is mirrored in the quality of the content To help publicise some of this content, each issue of the newsletter includes some interesting postings from members blogs so check them out and leave a comment or two! As for me, I’m well into my sheep book which is just as well as my deadline is October and after four days at Shrewsbury Folk Festival I need to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in! Sue’s Blog

Novel Beginnings proved to be our most popular open contest this year with a very good standard of entries covering a wide range of topics and genres. The competition called for the first chapter of a novel either finished or in progress suitable for young adult upwards. Our winner fell in the lower age range so congratulations to Eleanor Patrick who took first place with Kippers Pride, as story for young teens. Second was Rob Walters with Shaken By China and third Emily Bullock with Dark Ages. We had two Highly Commend entries, Hickory Scented Crayfish by Gary Long and Larks Ascending by Louise Blackah. Grape and Grain - Pace Hotting Up and New Features Added
We’ve a right royal battle taking place at the top of the Grape and Grain harvest themed online poetry contest site short list! God’s Eye with 49 votes and 24 comments, which was our early leader, is still topping the listings, but is being closed pressed by In Vino Veritas with 38 votes and 10 comments. Other entries are not too far behind and there is plenty of time yet to amass more votes and comments. In fact, it is even easier for you to get the word out as we’ve added some social networking buttons to the bottom of each entry. This means once you have entered the contest, you can let all your Facebook, etc friends know and ask them to come and vote! This new tool is in addition to the tell a friend feature which all ready exists on the site. The standard of poems on the site so far is excellent, so and least take a look and give your favourites a thumbs up! Even better, why not try your luck with one of your own? Poetry was meant to share, not burying in a dusty drawer! All details and enter Grape & Grain here ...
