TRAVELLERS TALES –
QUARTERLY CHALLENGE
Hopefully everyone has
ventured a little further than their back garden this summer which means it
shouldn’t be difficult to come up with a good travel story.
For this quarterly contest
we’re looking for a travel article of the type featured in a general interest
magazine so we want your take on the destination together with some side bar
information on places to eat, things to do, things to see and how to get there.
Your article should be no
longer than 1200 words. Please include
photographs if you have them, (the site will let you do this), but don’t worry
if you can’t, the contest will be judged on words alone.
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LINKS, TEXT OR PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH IDENTIFIES YOU AS THE AUTHOR!
There is £40 for the best entry & £10 for the 2 runners up. Closing
date, 31st December, 2010.
You might say you are not
the competitive type, but everyone has the potential to rise to a challenge
which is what rivalry is all about!
Our latest monthly
Challenge wants you to explore the theme of “rivals.” Who the rivals are and what they are striving
for is up to you, but tell us in a 16 line poem.
Poems can be rhymed or
free verse, serious or humorous.
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LINKS, TEXT OR PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH IDENTIFIES YOU AS THE AUTHOR!
There is £20 for the best
entry. Closing date, 10th July.
RED SOCKS - QUARTERLY FICTION CHALLENGE
Our latest fiction
challenge is wide open to your imagination this quarter. You can write about whatever you like as long
as it does not exceed 1,000 words and contains the words … “red socks” ANY
WHERE in the text.
Please DO NOT give your
story the title “Red Socks,” it could result in mix ups if we have multiple
entries with the same title!
Remember, all entries
appear on the site anonymously. Only you
can see your Profile details, no-one else can!
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LINKS, TEXT OR PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH IDENTIFIES YOU AS THE AUTHOR!
There is £40 for the best entry & £10 for the 2 runners up. Closing
date, 30 June, 2010.
PYRAMID – QUARTERLY POETRY
CHALLENGE
Write about anything you
like, but whatever you are expressing needs to be in the shape of a
pyramid!
This can be inverted if
you wish, i.e. starting with the longest line first and then ending with a
single word. Alternatively you may
prefer to stick with the traditional format beginning with one word and
building the lines up from there.
There is no maximum line
count, but you must write a MINIMUM of 12 lines!
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LINKS, TEXT OR PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH IDENTIFIES YOU AS THE AUTHOR!
There is £40 for the best entry & £10 for the 2 runners up. Closing
date, 30th June, 2010.
