It seems to me however much and many times you edit your manuscript, there is always going to be a mistake! Just when you think you have got it sussed someone points out another error. I have come to the conclusion that a full edit is a must however well you write. I would hate to self publish and then have someone point out my mistakes,(which has happened in the past when submitting short stories) I have to admit I have grown up somewhat over the years and can just about, (tongue in cheek) take the critisism. I am considering self publishing and so look forward to reading about the experiences others have had in doing so. I would love to hear from anyone who has artistic talents, as I have several well received childrens stories that need illustrating, but money is always the worry. I am a newby to your group and look forward to being involved. never ending editing - I had three very good friends who went through my novel many times - only a couple of mistakes slipped through i think - one was a spacing thing and might have happened when I was trying to PDF it -  I have launched it and after a special edition for people I know its now on internet and I'm trying for a second.  I was never out of pocket and am beginning now to make a profit because the costs were kept low.

if you don't mind the work involved it is actually quite fun!

I have found typos in books published my mainstream publishers who supposedly have professional checking
