What about writing articles related to the subject matter of your book? I can't think of a subject that can't be related to, but as an example, take my gluten free diet ms: once I have published it, I could write an article on living with food intolerance, then incorporate a mention of my book, with a small taster (making it really tasty), and the title as a link to the sales page, be it Amazon or Lulu.

The article directories EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com (is there a  UK equivalent?) have a resource box at the end where relevant information about your book, as well as links, can be added.

This is excellent advice Marit and is exactly what I'm trying to explain in Bloglancing.  The biggest problem with it is people expect over night success and it just doesn't happen.

You have to select an appropriate keyword relating to whatever you are trying to sell then write lots of articles containing it all back linking to your book or sales page.  Eventually, you will get on to page one of Google which is when the success starts to come.
