Presents

A ONE DAY TRAVEL

WRITERS' WORKSHOP

9.30 for 10am to 4.30pm

Sunday 28th March 2010

Dartford, Kent

We are very excited that well known writer and photojournalist Cindy-Lou Dale will be leading the workshop for us.  The Write Place has run many interesting writers workshops and this is the first time we have ventured into the world of travel writing and photography. The workshop is suitable for both writers and photographers whether published or not. All we ask is that you have a grasp of the English language!

Cindy-Lou says: "Travel first class to foreign locations, stay in five-star boutique hotels, dine in Michelin star restaurants, drive exotic cars and enjoy VIP treatment - all for free - then get paid for the privilege, again and again. I've been doing it for years; in fact I go on assignment to exotic locations every other month for publications like National Geographic and TIME magazine. It's taken me many years to acquire this insider's knowledge which I'm passing on to a few selected guests on Sunday, 28th March. Whether you're branching out and looking to the travel writing genre or going freelance for the first time; or maybe you're a photographer, or a total newbie, you'll need to know what I know if you want to sell your talent.

In this one-day course I'll show you how to find that illusive hook, where to pitch it, how to pitch it, secure the assignment and arrange a (free) press trip I'll also speak of low and non-paying markets; I'll give a few winning pitch examples; speak of negotiating a fee; provide tips for working with professional bodies; taking instruction from an editor; making a trip financially viable; photography tips; and possibly the most important of all - self marketing."

(For details of Cindy-Lou's work view her website: www.cindyloudale.com )

Price, which includes a hot lunch and all refreshments: £80.00
