<p>Today, I had planned to sit down and work through the existing chapters of my 'Novel' and find my muse again.</p> <p>That's what I would like to do, but life has a way of dictating other wise.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>So, before I can settle down to do what I would prefer to be doing, I will tend to my clients (not a problem), do all the house work, decant Hubby's clutter off my desk, (Just so that I can actually get to my desk top computer and access the relevent files for my accountant) sort out accounts, reciepts etc., try to get just ONE of the 2 scanners to scan all appropriate documentation to satisfy the Inland Revenue. Only once all that is done, will I be able to sit in piece and harmony and apply my full attention to my quarry. Oh... almost forgot, important that I manage to find time to eat at some stage.... the 'Bump' requires it, apparently.</p>

<p>Today started out just fine, nothing special, just tatting about catching up on a few little jobs here and there in between all the baby stuff going on. All was going well until I decided to attack one particular 'Little job.'&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>All I had to do was order an information pack for 'Child Tax Credits,' how difficult can it be?</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The answer is... damn near impossible.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I call the 'Helpline' as directed by the web site, listen to the instructions, press a couple more numbers before finally speaking to a Human being.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I'm then asked for the usual 'Securuty' questions and am informed that the answers will be cross referenced with a well known credit report company.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>National Insurance Number. (No problems so far) The first line of my current address, post code, (This is easy). The voice asks for a previous address.(Once again, no problem, in fact I give her two, just for good measure.)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This is where it all goes base over apex!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>'I'm sorry, but we're unable to verify your identity.'</p> <p>'Come again?'</p> <p>'We can't verify your identiy.'</p> <p>Now I'm flummouxed!</p> <p>'Well what if I give you my previous names.'</p> <p>'That won't do. You need to take two forms of identification to the nearest office. I can make you an appointment.'</p> <p>Now I can feel my frustration rising. It's bad enough getting from A-B down our neck of the woods when you're foot loose and fancy free; but add a young child and a 'Travel system' to the mix of no nearby parking and high parking charges for the ones that are available, it becomes a non-starter.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Now before you think I'm being 'Unreasonable' or think 'You're not the only one to have had a child, deal with it, everyone else has to.' Answer me this; Why when I've lived at the same address for several years and recieving 'Child Benefit' based on this information, paid my taxes and national insurance from this address, can the same Government departments not be able to verify my identity?</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>It's just ridiculous...I only wanted the information pack and application form!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Now I'll have to get Hubby to phone.
