Sometimes my stories look as though my grammar is wrong, but most of my stories are written in my Scottish voice. There is a lot of slang in the dialogue, but as a writer, I write as though it was happening, for instance I write windie instead of window. 'I looked out the windie.' My book  'It's steamy out there' is my biography and is written as I remember it. I have written it as though I was still living in Scotland and tried to remember how we would phrase certain events.  Another instance,  The big game of fitba instead of the international football game. My book has sold and it has been edited for punctuation, but my grammar has been left as I write it. I didn't know that my book would ever be read in Scotland, but we had a visitor from Scotland to my sisters house here in Corby England. My sister gave them the book to take home to Scotland.  I had  a phone call from my bridesmaid, who was my best friend. She asked when  I was sending her a copy of the book because  she has heard she is one of the main characters in the book. I had lost touch with her. So my book is on it's way to Coltness in Scotland. I know you may think that I'm making excuses for my grammar, but the Internet is huge and people who live in Australia and Canada may not know that Scotland has many dialogues.

The writing would not be true to life if you formalised the language, Molly. Have you seen any of Stephen fry's latest programme on language on Sunday evenings? Last night he was looking at dialects and language.

Dear Molly I think you're quite right to leave the terms in as you spoke them, it surely gives more atmosphere, but this has nothing to do with grammar (it's spelling) which is verbs, pronouns, adjectives etc... etc...
