Where Has All the Junk Mail Gone?
I don't use email software any more, since I had a system crash and found that everything except my emails and contacts could be recovered. It's all hosted online now.
I'm often irritated by the webmail of my broadband provider, Orange. But recently they've done a few things right. For example, after several days of confusion, it's now much quicker to log in than it's ever been.
It used to take me a while to scroll through all the emails in the junk folder and delete them, but since Xmas there are very few. At the bottom of my list of email folders is a little button that says spam filter on. I don't remember seeing that before. I don't suppose for a minute that those dreadful spammers have stopped sending me invitations to buy viagra and suchlike, so perhaps orange have stopped them from getting to me. The downside of that is that I will no longer be able to ensure that my idea of junk coincides with theirs.
Ah well, you can't have everything.
- I can relate to your concern about what you consider is junk mail and what your provider considers is junk mail. It's irritating finding legitimate mail in the wrong folder. I've tried applying 'mail rules' but they don't seem to work very well for me.
- I'm just wondering if I've got a particularly good filter system, I rarely get any 'Junk' mail at all. Am I missing out on something? My server in the UK is O2 - they are a disaster for here in Mexico; won't even pick up and send my mail on my O2 email address so I'm having to use my gmail address. I don't get 'Junk' mail there either or on my husband's hotmail.
- Junk mail is a pain isn't it, Jean. I use several different email systems and each seems to treat it differently. Yahoo at least place stuff in a spam folder and you can check the sender and delete it without actually opening it. Others highlight items they consider junk and again you can delete such items without opening them. I'm not familiar with Orange so don't know if their system allows you to see what they have deemed junk or not, though.
- Hate junk mail. Even facebook is sending junk my way now :-(
- There are days when I'm so bored that even junk mail is better than none :-)
