On the Wireless
A mirror post of one on my main blog.
It’s been a funny old day. We had our annual battle of the supermarket aisles this morning, which lasted about two hours while Her Indoors stocked up on the goodies for next week. At the end of this fun fest, I was in agony, my pain exacerbated by a walletectomy at the checkout, done without anaesthetic.
We then drove home in the traffic queuing up for next year’s Olympics. Or at least that’s how it seemed to me. We got home the dog went bananas because he’s been left alone for two hours, and in the process of greeting us, he knocked over some Christmas decs. Barely lunchtime and everyone is in high dudgeon, except Joe, who’s in the doghouse for knocking hell out of a plastic Santa.
I was particularly peeved because I’m already two days behind with my current project and these incidents don’t help.
Settling down to do a bit, I opened my emails, and there’s one from a young lady who works for BBC Radio Manchester. Would I talk to her about blogging? Well, yes I would.
The upshot of all this is I’m on the radio Monday, Boxing Day about 12 noonish, chatting about the blogging art and why it’s good for you.
I’ve had more blogs than you can shake a stick at. My blogger page is in mufti at the moment, prepared for a serial I’m launching in the New Year. Flatcap’s Fritters has been dormant for some time because I’m so busy with other matters, but this blog and my page at http://www.dwrob.com have been steadily busy since… well since forever, in one form or another.
But if you want to know what light I can shine on the attraction of blogging, you’ll have to tune in on Monday.
BBC Radio Manchester Boxing Day. Be there or forever pine.
Note: the BBC usually leave these things online for a month, so if you can't get Radio Manchester. I'll try dig out the recording after we're done.
While I'm here, can I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for Christmas and I'll be back next week with my customary cynical summary of the past year.
- At least somebody didn't lift up the boot lid of your vehicle - and a litre bottle of gin rolled out. Gin wafts the air outside our back gate. Saludos, David. I doubt if we shall get Radio Manchester in Nottingham on Boxing day - pity.
- If your email box is anything like mine at this time of year that is one invitation you may easily have overlooked. Seems everyone I have ever had contact with sends an email and companies have been hounding me daily telling me how many days there are until crashdown.
Will endeavour to pick up your words of wisdom using the iPlayer, David. I've had luck with other BBC local stations that way. Boxing Day itself is our busy day when all the family, including some children, will be around so the computer, radio, TV etc don't get a look in. Good luck and Merry Christmas. - Cheers, David. Something to look forward to. And great to have some recognition of your fame from a radio wallah..
