Now I'm really MIFFED!
I have just spent the best part of an hour or more writing a book review for one of Writelinks finest only to have Amazon tell me they will not accept it. Apparently, and I quote...
Your review was not accepted because we only allow each customer
to write one review of each product set. An example of a product set
is the collection of all editions of a book: hardcover, paperback, and
audiobook. If you'd like, you can edit your existing review."
This appears to be a stupid way to go about things. Why, if I enjoy reading more than one book, of the same genre, by the same Author and same format, am I not allowed to comment freely?
*GRUMBLES LOUDLY*
Now that I have got that off my chest, if anyone would like to read my review on 'Heir to a Murder' (STAC Investgates)(Kindle edition) by David, it will be posted on my Blog at 09:00 tomorrow morning.
- Looks like you will be able to post it on Amazon later, once DW has sorted it all out, so it won't be wasted after all.
- It's less complicated that you may think and it's actually my fault (ain't it always?) After publication, one or two glitches turned up in the text. I corrected them, and uploaded again, but on the next upload, I tagged this witha volume number, which it isn't. STAC are all stand-alone books. I'm waiting to correct it, but I can't because I've just dropped the price and I'm waiting for it to come through review so I can put the matter right, after which, Laurie, you should be able to post your review.
I have read the review by the way, but didn't comment on your blog because I couldn't be bothered :) but I will do so later today.
And, BTW, thanks for such a brilliant review. - Hi Solita,
I have slept now and can be more objective. (Not so easy after nearly 18 hours on the go)LOL
You make a very valid point, I just think it should be more clearly stated before you start. The site appears to have a pretty good way of tracking your actions, so why not flag this sort of thing up when you open the review panel. Just a thought.
Any way, you live and learn...the review didn't go to waste, no harm done. - Whether it's right or wrong I couldn't say, but maybe it's to get an idea of how many different people read the books, at the same time avoiding only positive reviews by people who know and/or admire the author. Generally if you like how someone writes (whoever they may be) it's difficult to be objective (I really couldn't criticize a Sophie Kinsella book even if it wasn't as good as others for example)
