Kick The Habit The easy Way
Hello friends,
Recently I have been trying my very hardest to stop smoking. I went My GP and told him how depressed I was through smoking.
The GP gave me some patches. First he put me on 21mg, I felt irritable, I scratched and I suffered with terrible headaches.
After a week I couldn't cope. I looked into it and realised that I was on a very high patch, so I asked for a lower patch and was given 14mg Patch
The Patch didnt give me the head ache and I carried on taking them for two weeks.
After I finished the course I wanted a cigarette, and I became stressed. When I thought about it I realised that when I had a supply of nicotine I didnt feel angry or fustrated like I had when I smoked so I looked further into it.
After the 14mg patch you are suppose to go down to the 7mg patch, but I never I started to smoke again. only this time I looked on the packet and saw the amount of nicotine my normal brand were.
(just to make it clear) I would normally buy 20 Lambert and Butler. these had: 10mg tar, 0.9mg Nicotine and 10mg of Carbon Monoxide. The lowest patch was 7mg. so would this patch make me stop.... doubt it
so I looked at my choices of brands, which were the lowest in: Tar, Nicotine and Carbon Monoxide
I slowly reduced my levels of nicotine through smoking different brands.
I now smoke Silk Cut Silver which has 1mg of Tar, 0.1 mg Nicotine and 1mg of Carbon Monoxide.
My theory is, If I reduce the amount of the main three listed first, then reduce the amount of cigarettes I smoke, I will be able to stop
Today I have set my self a goal. I can only have 10 cigarettes. Tomorrow I can only have nine.
I see this as a winner, and at the same time I am not being to hard on myself. I could go through the cold turkey and just quit I hear you say, I could but, I know I wouldn't be nice person to be around. so I will try it this way and maybe this way could help others.
To sum up
I personally think that the patches don't work, neither the inhalers , I think it's just a product that is sold to help you think it will work.
I also believe that if you slowly reduce the amount the body won't crave as bad.
Try not to be to hard on yourself when trying to stop, your could actually make yourself smoke more.
Try this, and see if it works for you.
- I hope it works for you too. My hubby tried the patches but still smokes. He gets patches just for five hour plane trips and the like.
- Sounds very logical to me! Hope it works...
- Good luck - you should start a Writelink Stop Smoking group!
- Good luck! Seems lots of people are trying to kick the habit here, hopefully there's moral support in numbers, too. Fingers crossed for success!
