I'm Back
Many thanks for all your comments on previous posts.
Tenerife was, as usual, an enjoyable and relaxing break, but we've been there so many times now, we've run out of places to visit and things to see, so we'll be looking to pastures new the next time we go.
Obviously, this was me and missus going on holiday, so it wasn't without its problems. The biggest one was Her Indoors caught a cold... and then gave it to me. This is unusual. Normally, she won't even give me the time of day. The upshot is that after the pilot came into Manchester in a power dive, my ears blocked and they haven't yet popped, meaning I'm no longer hard of hearing. I'm stone deaf.
On the way back, they pulled my name out of the hat for a free drink on the plane, so the missus helped herself to a brandy. Then she won £2 on the airline's charity scratch cards. I couldn't stomach the garbage they called a meal, so she had hers and mine, and just to complete this return coup d'état, when we got home we learned that she'd thrown the bag with my shaving brush (£9) and brand new razor (£10) in the bins... at Laguna Park 1.
I'm a bit reluctant to trail 2000 miles to get them back, and anyway, I don't know where the local dump is in Playa de Las Americas, so I have to go out this morning to buy replacements.
A couple of Tenerife snippet. The first show Pico de Teide, the cone of the volcano, slight right of centre, taken from Playa de Las Americas on a gloriously hot day.

The second is evening from the balcony of our apartment. If you look closely at the top of the picture, there is a little white dot. This is not a fault on the camera, and it's not a Tippex smudge. It's Venus, the goddess of love, shining down on us.

Love? Ha! Waste of good twilight that was.
- Thank you Jean, Nicky, Patricia. No the cold is not better and right now I'm running round in ever-decreasing cricles and in danger of disappearing up my own synopsis. Blog post imminent.
- Welcome back David. Hope the cold is better now.
- Hello again David. hope you had a great time.
- Glad to see you back, David, together with your clever, quirky comments!
- Thanks, Ann, Jeanne and Solita. As an exercise in getting on with things, yesterday has been struck off the calendar. I'm still in mourning for my shaving brush.
Very poetic, Solita. The weather here has been so bad that I didn't even realise Venus was in the evening sky unitl we got to Tenerife.
