Haiku for Tuesday
Haiku for Tuesday

Drafted this in the car and meant to post it last night, but didn't get to it.
Drive five hundred miles
to say goodbye to old friend
at brief cremation.
This dreary grey day,
lemon orange willow branches
brighten up the landscape.
There's a bit of poetic licence. It was actually only 240 miles each way but that wouldn't fit into a haiku. It was a sad event, tipping down with rain so noone stayed around afterwards, and there was nothing else organised. All those hours of driving for 45 mins including waiting time for the hearse to arrive.

- How sad! I know the feeling well having recently done exactly the same with horrendous high winds added to the picture. Afterwards, I had to wonder what satisfaction did I get from this?
