Funny and Fun
Today I thought I would catch up with some friends, so I called my favourite friend Kala - I hadn’t seen her for a while.
She owns her own hairdressing salon , and she has conversations of all kinds with her customers.
I had been talking to her about my day .
‘I am sure I am is losing it,’ I said ‘I had one of them moments when I forgot how to make crumble- so I called my mum and asked her to remind me what I needed,
Flour , sugar and butter and my mum mentioned water - which I found a little odd.
‘I have never used water in crumble- have you ever heard of it ?.’ I asked Kala.
‘No,’ laughed Kala.
‘Aren’t they funny as they get older!’ I said
‘Did I tell you about the old women who came into the shop? Asked Kala.
‘No,’
‘Well we have an old lady that comes into the shop once a month, she’s very posh, very well spoken and I would say she’s in her eighty’s. I was setting her hair in rollers and she started telling me about her holiday.’ Kala ‘s tone changed from normal to a posh tone as she started to tell me the story
‘Terrance my husband and I went on holiday, a few weeks ago, my daughter and the grandchildren came with us,’ Said the old lady as she sat watching her grey hair being rolled in the reflection of the mirror.
‘Oh, Did you have a nice time ?’ asked Kala staring back at her.
‘Yes.’ said the lady in a very serious tone.
‘One day Terrance , and I decided to take a trip while my daughter took the grandchildren to the beach- We took the train , we saw beautiful mountains and the country side,’
‘That sounds nice,’ replied Kala.
‘It was .’ smiled the lady
Kala listened as she rolled the rest of her hair in the rollers
‘When we got off the at the station , their on the other side was another train, Terrance wanted to take the other train and we had a small disagreement, I didn’t want to, but Terrance was adamant, so he told me to wait at the station until he returned - you know men are, once they have their feet stuck in they don’t move - well my Terrance doesn’t anyway, so he went to the train and sat in the middle carriages. It was only when the train set off I realised what type of train it was -I was so worried about him.’
‘What type of train was it ?’ asked Kala
‘A rollercoaster I think! - I was worried about him having a heart attack.’ said the lady in a very serious manner.
‘What was he like when he came off the train? Asked Kala,
‘ His grey hair looked stiff , he was unstable,’ said the lady
‘What did he say?,’ asked Kala as she tried to control her laughter.
‘I don’t think I will be taking that train again,’ smiled the lady.
Kala and I couldn’t stop laughing , it sounded so funny the image was just like an advertisement.
Which makes me think! even the elderly can still have some fun
- Seriously??? Can't imagine what actual circumstances this would happen under, but it's hilarious anyway! Definitely one to tuck away in the scrapbook for story use ;)
