This is a small personal blog displaying many pieces of my fiction and non-fiction material that I have written in the past and during my studies at Univerisy of Huddersfield from which I have no graduated with a 2.1 Mark in BA Hons in English Studies with Creative Writing. Here you will also find updates on my writing explorations, trial of errors and any other creative events that occur in my life. I have already had some small sucess in my writing life in that a short story I wrote based in Norse Mytholoy and set in York got particular note and attention from none other than Joanne Harris upon her website release of the results of a Fan Fiction Competition she ran earlier this year.

Cute as Candy - Poem

Author: valkyrie (add to friends)

God or some other great being of creation
Must have been having a sugar rush
When they made the first golden Labradors.

They gave them eyes 36% cocoa chocolate brown.
Glazed with mischief and innocence.
Turned their fur the pale gold of a Caramac bar.
They used a chewed up piece of black liquorice for a nose.
Implanted a flap of candy floss pink as a tongue.
And gave a tail that can wag faster than sherbet fizzes in your mouth.

They made a creature that can melt hearts
Tougher than Scarborough Rock.
A vision of delicious cuteness.

My daughter has two golden Labradors. They are called yellow Labradors. I have written about them several times in my blog and about Jack the chocolate Lab that they lost last year. They are also featured on my Calender Dogs.
So you can see why I liked this poem.
