Does anyone on here use the free rice website?
It has word games, you can test your grammar and punctuation,(that's the section for me.) You can also test your vocabulary.
Every click gets ten grains of rice for the worlds starving.
I only found out about this site tonight., So I've donated a few thousands grains.
I'll sleep well now. ![]()
Now you're all going to tell me you use it all the time aren't you? Wish someone had said.
Lovely aren't they?

Molly has a spray collar on in this picture. If she barks at the 'interloper' dog next door we can either remotely beep her or give her a spray of nasty smelling stuff.
It's working too.
Laura Whotton, 26 from Carrington in Nottingham was thrown out of the John Carroll leisure centre for being in breach of council rules.
A spokesman for the leisure centre confirmed that she was removed from the poolside for being in serious breach of a bylaw.
Well,
I've had the night time breathing equipment for about a week or so now and I can't say I feel that much better in the day. There is some improvement, maybe it will take time to work through.
I am getting R E M sleep again now, which has to be a bonus. Janet Short's breasts, which have filled my dreams since my schooldays are back again and I tend to feel properly, yawningly, tired in the day now, instead of existing in a sort of robotic trance.
NO, I'm not dead or in gaol, I'm alive and if not exactly kicking, still managing to place one foot in front of the other in an effort to keep moving.
I received a letter today from Woman's Weekly informing me that my short story 'Desperate Measures' wasn't what they were looking for at this time. I was a little disappointed with that as they had previously said they were interested.
However, at lunchtime I received this email from Best of British Magazine.
Dear Trevor
Thank you for your articles Early Years, The Early Shift and Winter of 1963.
You'll be pleased to hear that we would like retain the articles for possible publication in a future issue of the Best of British magazine. Although acceptance of articles does not guarantee publication, a letter of confirmation will be sent to you if it is published.
Further to our earlier email discussion, the Editor is happy to accept the articles at their present length, so there is no need to resubmit shortened versions.
Also, do you have any pictures we could use to illustrate all three articles? Please can you send the images for ‘The Early Shift’ through as jpegs, rather than embedded in the document.
If at any stage you want to know what is happening with your articles or you wish them to be returned to you please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your interest in Best of British.
They want ALL THREE! and one of them is over 3,000 words, so much for guidelines lol.
Sorry if this is a bit OTT but I just had to share.
Firstly may I wish everyone at Writelink a very happy and prosperous new year.
Yesterday I received an email from ‘Best of British’ magazine informing me that my submission, 'My First Date.' was not quite what they were looking to publish in the next few issues. I knew It wasn’t too far off the mark though as I’d bought a couple of editions of the magazine to see what sort of thing they accepted.
I suppose I was lucky to get any kind of reply because I sent it in via email, which they don't usually accept. (In their writers guidelines they say that manuscripts should be sent via the postal service on A4 paper, double-spaced in a non fancy font etc. ) In the email, I mentioned one or two other articles I have written that I could source pictures for. I sent one, 'The Early Shift' about my time in the coal mines, with the original email.
Find a pin, pick it up and all day long, you'll have a pin.
It’s my birthday today. I’m Fifty Five, it doesn’t sound so bad when you say it quickly...hmmm, 55, OK, I lied, it does sound bad.
I got up early at the dragon’s request to open cards and pressies. I got £20 from the mother in law, £20 from my brother and sister in law, £20 from the girls,(Dogs, I sent that one, but don’t tell anyone) and a bottle of my favourite Issey Miyake aftershave from the dragon. The kids will be round later with their cards and pressies, I’ll get some more smellies from my son ( do you think they are trying to tell me something) and a book from my daughter. I know because I get the same every year.
This year's card ![]()
