Holidays, Haven and Hard Work

It's been a busy couple of weeks, not least because by the time this displays on my blog I will be on our third holiday, providing you count a very wet, half-day trip to Thomasland at Drayton Manor!

[More:]

Highlight of our first three days at Legoland (beside catching sight of Bill Bailey at Oxford South services - on the way to the Big Chill maybe, as he's on the Guardian podcast)was no screaming children. Of course, this was because they largely got their own way on everything, unlike most non-holiday days!

Back home for a few days before heading off for five days in a Haven caravan (no internet access, help!)we thought we'd try Thomasland at Drayton Manor. The rain thought otherwise and after just three rides (given the entrance price probably the most expensive ones we've ever been on) we gave up battling the weather and returned home.

However, the rain hasn't spoiled everything. I've managed to set up a 'Writelink' Facebook group (don't forget to join it if you get a chance!) and have been asked if I will read some of my work again at our town's annual Salt Day Festival on September 13. This is actually quite timely as on August 30 Legend Press launch a new edition of the short story anthology emarkable Everyday, which features one of my longer short stories (but more about that later). I've also been busy working on a new 9,000 word short story and trying to work out whether that length is best posted in arena fiction (probably the correct place but it's way longer than anything else in there) or arena book chapters. (I've never posted to either before!)

Anyway, though off the internet while at Haven, I expect I'll be spending the evenings editing early drafts and researching. No rest for the wicked, as they say, or even the angelic in my case! ;-)

Happy holidays!
