Return to Oxford
A selection of snaps I managed to get while returning to Oxford for a friend's wedding.
My husband, me and my friend who got married were all at Trinity College on Broad Street. This picture is taken from the front gate. The chapel, where she was married, is on the right hand side of the arch in this picture.

A snap of one of the pavement cafes on Broad Street. The road wasn't pedestrianised when we were there. However, there have always been loads of bikes in Oxford!

Another picture of Broad Street, this time the other end of the road. The domed building rising above is the Sheldonian Theatre, where we matriculated (entered uni) and graduated (finally got our degrees!).

The wedding reception was at The Randolph hotel in the centre of town. It is opposite the Ashmolean Museum and this was the view from our window.

Another view from our hotel window. I think this is the modern languages fac building (I know I should remember more clearly but I've blocked most memories related to study!) next to the Ashmolean and across the road is the rear of Balliol College, next-door neighbours to Trinity College and traditionally its arch-enemy!

Most importantly, one of the many Oxford pubs!

On the way home we stopped briefly at Blenheim Palace to look round the gardens, rather than the buildings, and sit by the lake. This is a picture of a rather impressive bridge.

Comments, Pingbacks:
First time I've read it, as remember I had problems opening it when it first came out, so thanks for the mention for Head of the Valley.
Cheers, and have a great weekend.
Yes, Oxford and the weather! I'm afraid I don't do rose-tinted specs and nostalgia about the place. The old buildings, lawns, cycling etc are beautiful in the sun and the summer. But I found them pretty damn grey and depressing in the winter when cycling back from lectures in the cold, wet and dark.
Re your poem, Marc, no need to thank me for mentioning it, the striking and original description in your poem spoke for itself. :-)
