In Focus

Question: What do snails, press releases, decorating fairy wings and taking website photos have in common?

[More:]

Answer: Not a lot, except they've all been the focus of my attention the last week or so.

My elder son's topic at term at the moment is minibeasts. Today, we had to go hunting for snails to take in to school and I've also been trying to fashion pipe cleaners and fairy wings into a dragon fly costume for him for sports day!

It has also been a good but busy week for pre-school publicity as we managed to get another front page pic in a second local paper. I've been taking pix myself for the new website the pre-school is launching and all I have to do now is get some decent sports day photos to send to one of the papers.

Of course, all of this means I haven't done much blogging or creative writing, nor reading. However, I have had a letter back from Catherine Smith at the new writer, saying she'd like to use two of my poems (hurrah!)and there are also plans to set up a Poetry Society stanza in my area. Fingers crossed. Much though I enjoy chatting and debating subjects on the forums, it is nice to cut out the time delay sometimes by meet up in person to talk poetry. I'll let you know how it goes...

Hi Sarah, I would love to attend a writing group and shall be very envious if you are able to get one going.

Hi Lo,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though I'm not the one that's organising it. I thought we had a writers group locally already but can't find any info/contact numbers anywhere so assume there maybe was one and isn't now. What appeals to me about a local stanza over a general writing group is the chance to focus solely on poetry, for now at least.

Well done, Sarah - again!I hope the local stanza takes off - you'll be in your oils. And it will give you a bit of reprieve from all the work you do with the school and pre-school. I think you probably need it!
