Schooled-out!

It may be half-term coming up but I'm still feeling all schooled-out - for various reasons!

[More:]

It has been a busy time at my elder son's school lately, with his school trip, class assembly, PTA meeting and plans for a new parents' council. I love being involved but sometimes it's hard working out where my time and skills will be most useful.

Anyway, I've also been asked if I will go back onto my younger son's pre-school committee. I did 18 months before when his brother was there. I've said yes again, of course, I usually do! I am a bit concerned that I don't end up with too time-consuming a role though. Last time I did newsletters and some PR, so it wasn't too bad. I'm hoping I can do something similar, or less involved, this time. Fingers crossed!

I have been wondering too this week if walking to school is giving me hayfever. I've never suffered from it before but I seem to have had an almost permanent runny nose for the past five or six weeks. At first, I thought it was a cold. But I've no other symptoms and had it such a long time. I've also noticed it's far worse when I'm outside, particularly walking to school as opposed to days when I'm inside and take the car to school. It's not bad, of course, as hayfever seems to go. (I have a friend whose daughter gets it so bad she gets itchy all over.) But I do feel like I'm viewing the world through a slightly clogged up and heavy headed haze. Still, I guessed being clogged up beats being blogged up...

Have you checked out the types of trees on the way to school? You might be allergic just to one type and it may pass once the blooming time (no pun intended) is over.

I think your GP could do an allergy test if you asked. At least you'd know then...

Good luck with all those committees! Sounds like busy days (and evenings) ahead.

We go through the park, Steph, so pass loads of different trees I hadn't thought that it might just be one particular type. Fingers crossed.

Don't overdo it with the committees (it can take up a lot of time) - but good luck with the ones you join! I found little time for anything else when my girls were small - but it was mostly good fun.

Perhaps you are allergic to school?
