On Cloud Nine!

It was like discovering my cloud's silver lining today when I learned my poem Cumulus had won first prize in the writelink Spring Fever photo poetry competition.

[More:]

Actually, the title of the contest sums up how I felt when Sue emailed me with the news this beautifully sunny Spring morning. It's taken several hours for the fever of excitement to clear and I think it will be a while before I float down from cloud nine.

Actually, the news is definitely a very welcome morale boost as I have been suffering lately from the cliched writers' block (or inability to find time to think let alone write!) I spent the early part of the day at my son's school, where they are talking about setting up a parents' forum. Then it was down to the gym, followed by mowing the lawn. All good examples of the procrastination which has been getting in the way of my writing and latest other project (a photography contest – but more about that in a later blog).

Anyway, as I've also just reached my target weight (despite the running injuries and resulting drop in exercise lately), I'm off to celebrate this double whammy with the biggest pizza ever and the firm resolve to knuckle down to some work in the morning!

Thanks Paola! Boy, what a big pizza and boy, do I feel bloated now! But it was yummy, and I've still room for a small hot choc with Baileys before I get back to the reality of diets, exercise and serious writing! (I probably should have gone to your virtual bar of course, infinitely more healthy!)

Congratulations, Sarah, and well done! A run-away victory - but watch that pizza. They're very morish!

Thank you all. It's back to the melon and salad already! But I'm still buzzing with motivation!

Excellent news Sarah, and I'm sure you'll soon run or swim off the pizza. You've got to have treats sometimes after all.
