Swamped!

Thinking about blogging earlier today, I was swamped by possible titles but had nothing of real substance to post about. Unfortunately, that just about sums up the state of all my writing at the moment!

[More:]

Getting back to my usual exercise after the bursitis has been frustrating. Though I am managing to swim sixty lengths now, the exercise bike and weights are still proving too much for my leg. The result? Less aerobic exercise but more pilates for toning and strength. Fitting in swimming round the local pool timetable has left me with segments of spare time instead of long stretches so that I actually seem to have less ended up with less time for writing than I did before when I was exercising more!

I also feel swamped looking through my own poems, which I have printed out to see if I have enough to form a collection. Despite pruning out a large number, I'm still finding it a huge task trying to weed out the rest, find a coherent theme and order them effectively. Still, I never thought it would be easy, just as well really...;-)

Know what you mean Sarah, I had a long travelogue, and have been splitting it into two articles to speculatively send out this week.
Quite enjoyed it though, and hopefully just about finished now.

Similar with injuries too: my back's okay and the running's nearly up to full distance, but haven't done any upper body as left shoulder still not right.

I find swimming offers great thinking time, though, Sarah, as does cycling (unlike Scramble and Word Twist which are simply addictive and numbing...!) I'm sure things will become clear - let us know when the new collection is ready. (And by the way, it's your urn...)

I know just how you feel Sarah! I exist in the state permanently, what with Writelink, Ashby Arts festival, my farming activities, my regular freelance commitments and a couple of private writing projects on the go, I sometimes feel like screaming!

I find the best way is to shut most of it out of your mind and concentrate on getting one job done. It still leaves a lot to do, but at least you feel like you've achieved something.

Thank you all. I hate treading water with exercise, writing or anything.
I don't know how you do it all, Sue. It makes my moaning seem like empty wingeing! Focus is definitely the key for me - though I'm a little scared sometimes that I'll lose track of time and forget to pick up one of the kids!

An alarm clock springs to mind, Sarah. It's easy to lose track of time when you're working/concentrating or like me - daydreaming/ procrastinating. Sometimes we just need to switch off, so don't be too hard on yourself - you'll get there in the end.

Sixty lengths! I've got a lot of catching up to do on more than one front.

Suspect we all feel like this sometimes Sarah. It goes with the territory. Having just filed another F2F, plus a short filler for the Vet I feel a lot better for sorting out some of the paperwork, and tidying up the desk. My semi-clear desk won't remain clear for long though!

Take each of your titles and turn them into Haikus, just for an exercise to get your creative juices flowing again!
I hope your health is soon back to what it should be and your fitness at its best, too!

Thank you Marilyn, Marit and Gillyflower
A decent alarm clock is definitely a good idea. (I have a tendency to blank out quiet alarms like the ones on watches, mobile phones or my insulin pump!)
I suspect if I got down to haikus, Marit, I might just get rid of them all together. Mind you, the frame of mood, I'm in at the moment that might happen anyway! There was an interesting piece in Mslexia about different moods suiting different writing processes best. I think I'm best to steer clear of all my own work at the moment as I'd probably wreak havoc!
I really should get myself an easier hobby than writing or exercise!
