Back to the classroom
It was geography and maths for me today - helping out with year two at my son's school.
I have to say I was surprised how much fun it was too. (I even learned something I didn't know in the geography topic about physical and human features! Well, geography was never my best subject!). I am hoping that helping out (as well as being enjoyable) will help prepare me for when my son (now in reception) reaches year two. It is only my second time in the classroom and it has been eye-opening for me to see how much more they are capable of in just two years. The maths teaching with number lines is certainly not something I remember doing at school, though that's not surprising as I don't recall much about lessons from my primary school days!
Actually the morning has also proved useful for me in a creative sense, as it has already inspired a new poem! Talking of which, I think it's time for some editing...
