Alive - and surprisingly happy!

Yes, believe it or not, I survived today's early morning jog with my marathon running friend - and even enjoyed it too!

[More:]

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was as intense in colour as in the summer but without the cruel heat, frost glittered the tarmac sections of canal towpath and had turned the giant bullrushes into candyfloss. It would have been great on the inspiration/creativity front were it not for the fact that I was running with someone else! (It is a double-edged sword. I run further more easily and enjoyably if I run with someone else. Chatting also helps my breathing. But the mind doesn't have the same freedom of thoughts and creativity as when I run alone.)

Anyway, I managed to run further and longer than last Saturday, probably largely because I was running with someone else this time. We were out for about 30 mins and I reckon we did just over two miles in that time. So maybe Race for Life (three miles for cancer research) is more of a possibility than I thought.

Anyway either the jogging or blogging at Legend Press Legendary Authors' website seems to have rejuvenated my energy for blogging here too. This post has also given me an idea for a post on writing inspiration for the Legend Press site, so maybe running two blogs is going to be good practice in using the same material/research for two different articles for two different publications/sites. It's all useful stuff - but before I start that, time to reward myself with a relaxing, child-free night out! Cheers everyone!

Well done on the jogging and blogging Sarah, and nice post. I also run along a canal path when I'm doing it, and think it's great for scenery and wildlife.

Yes, definitely. I think I may be hooked as I've agreed to run again this Saturday. I have been warned I probably ought to gte proper running trainers!

Yes you should get proper running shoes Sarah or you will be in for bad knees, shin splint and all kinds of other running horrors!

The Race for Life is an excellent race to start with, very friendly and non-competitive. I've done 5 now and will probably do another this year! Keep it up!

Ouch! Yes, I think we may have trip to the shoe shop coming up, though probably not till after I've run this weekend. I shall have to ask my friend where she recommends. I think the place she used to buy hers in Worcester has closed.
I'd like to try Race for Life but I want to leave it a bit before signing up(if it's not too lat for this year)just to make sure I'm up to it and really am enjoying it.
Five Races for Life is very impressive! It is a good cause, of course, but I think the track round our way is a little boring. My friend prefers Race for Life 10km over at Stafford cos it's more cross-country. However, there is no chance of me managing that far (and at least boring is also flat!)!!!
