Thanks Paola. This picture doesn't capture half the power, beauty and awe of the real thing. I can't remember whether I took this from the American or Canadian side. Unfortunately, I found it impossible to get the whole falls properly in one shot.

Apart from no-one crossing it on a tightrope, this is a terrific shot.
I know you can listen to all the explanations and nod wisely, but I still end up in awe of where it all comes from and all goes to.

This looks to me like it was from the American side. I don't think you'd get this view from Canada. I only went to the Canadian side, because I was visiting my daughter when she worked in Toronto and she didn't take her passport. It was a super experience though, especially the trip on The Maid of the Mist that took us so close we could feel the falls dropping onto us. How lovely to have honeymoon memories there.

Thank you Lez and Jak,
Yes, I think it was the American side. I think Niagara is an interesting place. The Falls are so stunning, if touristified. But the town on the Canadian side felt so seedy and commercialised. It has to be one of the few things where I have to say in many ways I prefer the American to the Canadian. The American side is way less touristy and a lot of park land by the falls. The best bit of our honeymoon was travelling around in a hire car and visiting the lakes and the islands.
