Unique

I never cease to be amazed at how the genes from two people mixed with environmental factors create a completely unique being!

Unique

for Jack at 4 months

He echoes expressions.
His face reflects, unknowing
of its own identity.
This British/American boy/baby's
not even aware he exists
outside the equation
part Mummy, part Daddy.
Light rotates, angles alter,
his features shift. The sum changes
but the answer always adds up
to individuality.

Very clever way with words and meanings, Sarah. I really like the way you have managed to embrace the various factors of individuality with so few words - yet retaining the 'feeling' of Jack.

Especially love this poem - it has a unique universal/philosophical expression/tone.
