Jack of Hearts

This was written after I saw my two-day-old nephew for the first time on webcam - and cried. He was so beautiful.

[More:]

Jack of Hearts
(15th June, 2007)

Just as we dreamed:
Our nephew, cousin, grandson.
Hours and continents away,
Nothing nearer in our thoughts.

Parents' wish and kiss, warm
Hug in their hearts.
Infusion of hope lilting our lives.
Longed for, loved
In every conceivable way.
Princely possibilities.

Beautiful poem for a beautiful baby! I wish I'd written it.

Thank you Marit. This still small collection is not so much about poetry as family and honouring my nephew. (Gosh, doesn't that sound old-fashioned!)

I love Acrostics and think this is a brilliant example/idea for any wannabe/newbie poets who don't know what to write about.

It must be lovely to have a poet in the family such as you, Sarah, to record everything so beautifully.

Beautifully written, Sarah. Your nephew's one lucky boy. :-)
