Just a thought

This is just a thought and I don't know how practical it is for most bloggers. However...

[More:]

I've mentioned before how annoying it is as a writelinker who wants to read several people's blogs when you end up on a blog which doesn't display a public blog list (meaning you either have to go back x pages or manually type/copy the web address to get to other writelinkers' blogs).

On the other hand, when promoting one's blog externally to eg editors one may not want to publicise other people's blogs in case it distracts from one's own.

I was wondering if a solution might be not to display the full public blog list but to add a link back to the main blog all listings page as I have on the top left and right of my blog.

The code one needs to do this is:

<h3><a href="http://www.writelink.co.uk/blogs/index.php">Link to Blog All</a></h3>

In my case, to display it on the right I went to blog settings, display tab and put it at the end of my long description. To add it to the left side, I went to blog settings, display tab and added it to the end of my tagline.

Obviously, where you put it will depend on your blog skin, and, if you know the appropriate html code, you can also choose to change font size, italicise etc as you would do normally.

NB Subscribers to my blog should read this post on my blog, as the email format notifications are sent in will not display the code you need clearly.

NB I would also suggest people not try adding this to their blog layout until they have tried creating links in a blog post (which can always be deleted if necessary!) Before doing this, you may want to look at David's piece Re: Contents Page or his piece Re: Contents Page 2

Thanks, Sarah. A good idea and one I've just added to my site.

That's great, Lo. I was a bit worried I hadn't explained it very well and that I might end up confusing people!
