Virtual cocktail bar Happy Hour

I thought I'd just set up this blog page/post as a substitute water hole while the writelink cocktail bar is being refurbished!;)

[More:]

It's been one of those weeks for me with my son starting school, a friend's husband in a bad car crash and less importantly losing work on the blogs and my writelink resources submission. Still on the plus side, I've had a few positive acceptances/successes on the writing front (thanks Marilyn and Mater for your comments on my old post).

Anyway, I will be starting drinking early today to build up some Dutch courage for my poetry reading at the town festival tomorrow. So please feel free to drop by and leave any comments or jokes about life, the universe or anything. Anything to cheer me up and save me from drowning my sorrows (or fears!) all on my own!

What a good idea Sarah! Please make mine a large gin and tonic, very large after the week I've just had! By the way, keep a look out for the next Writelink newsletter for some good news.

Will PM you when the site is back up!

The youngsters today (18+ hopefully) drink a 'jug' - apparently a little bit of this and a little bit of that - and more. :-) A jug or two of that and you wouldn't need any Dutch courage! But seriously, good luck and have fun! I'll have a teeny weeny White Wine Spritzer to join you (half way between dosing up on my medication, for safety's sake!). Cheers!

I hope your friend's husband is recovering well and is not too badly hurt!

An extra large G & T and a white wine spritzer coming up. Cheers both of you!
I hope the weekend's better than the week, Sue.
Thanks Marit. My friend's hubby wasn't too badly hurt from the accident itself but they still haven't worked out what caused him to black out at the wheel in the first place. The hospital seems to be taking ages to get the tests done. Meanwhile the car's also a write-off, it was bought on HP and the insurance won't cover the full HP. If he can't drive, then he can't get to work. The only good thing is that she got a new job this week, so fingers crossed they'll be ok.

My pictures are back! Hurrah! I'd like to propose a toast to the programmer (Rob?) for getting the stuff back so quickly!

Thank you, Mo. It has been a largely good week for me writing wise. Trouble is, I can't quite believe it's true!

Yes, good luck on your recent success, Sarah, on the Folding Mirror comp!

Good luck with the reading, too!

As for the car crash, it so reminds me of my recent horror, which occured 2 months ago when my elder daughter was in a car accident. She was in the firm's car and no one was to blame when the crash happened. The firm's car was a write-off. There was another car involved, but nobody was seriously injured and apart from the shock, she was able to exit the car unscathed. Now and again she has flashbacks, but eve
n so, she immediatly had to get back into her own to car to resume driving as her livliehood depends upon it.

It's great that they've been able to salvage your photos as it is all time-consuming and I see they've slavaged some written submissions, too. Let's hope the celebrations continue and thank goodness for the wonderful work Rob is doing...

Thank you, Marilyn. I'm glad your daughter was ok. I think her approach is very sensible but I bet it wasn't easy.
Bless you, M, for asking. It went very well, thank you. Actually I've just put up a post about it on my blog. The town was heaving. It's so nice to see it, particularly after floods and also because of the sense of community spirit it helps to create.
