The Switch
The nineteenth poem from my poetry collection Conception.
The Switch
Your yoghurt-pot-lid palm
hovers over the switch.
A thirteen-month finger
jabs the white rectangle.
Nothing happens.
You lunge again.
Still nothing.
Time passes
till your pressure’s
precisely poised
right on the edge.
You push.
There is light.
