Conception

The first poem from my poetry collection Conception.

[More:]

Conception

It’s all about blood
and DNA:
a ball of genetic string
pierced by a dart with a DNA tail.

A single cell splits like the atom again and again,
hollow fluid-filled blastocyst cluster
implants firmly into warm womb wall
– science makes no mention of emotion.

Much-loved and longed-for miracle of nature?
Or parasitic pest burrowing
into flesh like a hungry beetle?
It’s all about our conception of things.

But - is that the actual beginning?
Great poem, Sarah. Science is beautiful, too!

Enjoyed reading this very much and yes, i agree, it is our own conception of things.

Sarah, have you thought about entering this for the Resources Leap of Faith comp? The deadline is tomorrow.
