Lucky omen? Fingers crossed!

Blue skies! And I thought they didn't exist any more. Let's hope the good weather lasts for our town's 'party in the park' this afternoon - and, come to think of it, for our holiday next week!

[More:]

I had forgotten how lovely and bright it make one feel to wake up to good weather. Just as well really, as the boys are very excited and yesterday was literally and metaphorically a very grey day for me!

On top of severe sleep deprivation and dealing with two frustrated and argumentative young boys, I had two rejections back. Well, not so much rejections as finding other work had been accepted instead. What frustrates me most at the moment is my seeming inability to crack new markets. Still, if I'm honest with myself, I was expecting it for one on my submissions. It was one of those were you get only a week to write your poem. Actually, it was much less for me as I only discovered the duidelines the day before deadline. (So heaven help me with this weekend's Battle of the Bards!. Though I was fairly happy with my submission when I sent it ( and I still think they are good poems), just 48 hours after emailing them my brain had worked out some improvements.

Such however is life! I just hope this morning's brighter weather is a good omen for the writing I'm planning tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Good luck with Battle of the Bards! I'm not tnetrring as there'll be enough to do with Alex being baptised. Why is baptised wearing a red line underneath? I refuse to spell it a zED. (NOT zee)

Hope the baptism goes well and good for you re the spelling. Since my sister moved to San Fracisco, she doggedly speaks American instead of English. I hate it!

Yes, good luck with the Battle of the Bards, Sarah!
And have fun in the park with your boys today! It's lovely to see blue sky again, and I hope you get the same when you're off on holiday next week. I receive a local weather forecast every day via e-mail and according to that it's raining in our area at the moment, but I'm happy to say that they are completely and utterly wrong, because the sky is a beautiful azure blue and I can't see a cloud anywhere. Wonderful. Long may it last!

I had a rejection yesterday as well, but I was adviced to submit the poem to a literary publication or a small press publication. Better than being told it was total rubbish, I suppose!

Glad your weather's good too.
I had a similar comment with two of my poems for my other submission. As you say it is some comfort, but in my case I can't help feeling the comment may be over generous. In any case, I still feel a miss is as good as a mile!
