The final straw!

I am seriously going on strike! No, seriously, I mean it; my pay's awful and the working conditions atrocious!

[More:]

Yes, just one day into the official holiday period (ie no more planned toddler activities!) and I can't take it. Like I said, the pay's awful ie non-existent. And the working conditions are atrocious. The weather means we've spent most of the day cooped up inside, as we have done for weeks now. It also takes the boys just five minutes to turn the whole house into a tip. (They are well practised at it now!)

I got so fed up of the two of them arguing today that I finally resorted to taking them out for a half-hour drive to get themn to fall asleep. Fortunately, they did. And I then fell sleep on the sofa myself. (Now, before you class that as a perk of the job, remember I wouldn't need the extra sleep if it wasn't for the job!)

Anyway, I've laid down my terms very firmly...only trouble is I don't think the boys were listening!

I do sympathise Sarah... Bad weather combined with the six weeks holiday, is every mother's nightmare.
We're just now in the middle of stripping our living room walls...Everything's in a mess and I'm looking after Hannah and Isabella tomorrow morning. Ah well, on the bright side, at least they can't make more of a mess than we're already in.

When we redecorated our hall when I was pregnant with my second son, my elder son (2 at the time) helped me strip the wallpaper off the walls. Unfortunately, he had such a good time, he then took it upon himself to start stripping the still good wall paper in our sun lounge! Oh well, I can't blame him really.
Hope you have fun tomorrow and with the decorating.

Sounds cosy and I could imagine you all asleep. If you can't beat 'em - join 'em!

Got my grandson tomorrow and somehow I don't think he'll be sleeping! Help!

Aah, I do feel for you, Sarah. My daughters tell me that boys are much harder work than girls when they are small, and they must be right or I wouldn't have had as many as six girls.
Holidays? What holidays? I was quietly working on an article this morning, all on my lonesome - and then, within a few minutes, we were eleven in my livingroom - four of them boisterous little boys (my grandsons), leaping all over the place. 24/7? You have my sympathy. We'll just have to hope for better weather ahead so that the little tykes can safely play in the gardens while we watch them, notebooks in hand... Sigh - it may still happen...

Fingers crossed for us all! We're off on holiday next week - to Wales. Gulp!

Holiday in Wales Sarah? We used to do that. We borrowed a cottage, the back wall of which was a hill side rock! It didn't always rain but I can remember more rain than sun. We had three children, one of whom was totally deaf and prone to getting lost. Very hard work. Are you going South or North? You may need to find a mountain to avoid the floods. Hmm. would I be rightin saying 'either of my boys WAS listening?' Sorry!
r.

North - we're hoping to go to Chester on the way.
Yes, you are spot on - see, it shows how tired I am! I'll change it now! LOL

Lend them to me! Here we are in a big house, rattling round on our lonesomes, dying for a bit of kiddy fun! (Okay, just lend them to me for half a day - we'll make pizza and a 5-4-3-2-1 cake then I'll give them back to you)

No floods in my area in South Wales, but although we're not on top of the mountain, we are half way up the hill and water just runs past down the road. Beautiful area, green and pleasant. ;-)
And when the sun shines, even better. My parents loved holidaying here (coming over from Norway) and we had good weather almost every time they were here. But when the rain starts it doesn't seem to know when enough is enough. But you know, famous last words - we'll have a drought before long!
Have a lovely holiday! I hope there will be plenty to do for the boys, so that you can enjoy it, too!

You have my sympathies, Sarah; I remember my two at two years and 5; I used to watch the skies and hope for weather to be suitable for taking them out - and they were reasonably behaved, I think.
My daughter has two boys ---

Thank you all. I'm sure we will have a good time. It's just nice to get away. We are spending half the week at a Haven site so that should be fine rain or shine. We've been before in the wet! We also have friends who live nearby and normally manage to suggest some interesting places to go. Last time it tipped it down but we still enjoyed Conway Castle and butterfly farm.

Sarah. Our son has four children. Four and a half, ten, fourteen, seventeen...Holidays are a nightmare, because if the younger two are happy the elder two are bored and vice versa.
A couple of years ago he went to Butlins and said it was the best holiday they ever had. Plenty for the two youngest to enjoy and the two older children had the time of their lives. Not one moan or groan from them the whole time.
Last year they tried a caravan because he likes to chill out on the sand, but he and Louise his wife came back frazzled. This year it's Butlins again...

Four is a lot!
We are Butlins fans for the kids, we've done Minehead several times. But we always spend a lot once we get there. I'd like to try center parcs, but it isn't cheap!
