It's been a wet day in Worcestershire, so wet that my parents-in-laws' house is now one foot under water and their lane flooded to about five foot high!

Fortunately, they're safe and have managed to find shelter at their next-door neighbour's house, which is currently (touch wood) unflooded. I can't even begin to think how much work they will have to clear up though.

The irony of it is they probably would have been alright if their power hadn't gone, as they have some sort of pump to keep water away from the house. The double irony is that they only bought the house as a project to do up and sell. They've had lots of work done and had just replastered and had new carpets in downstairs. I've had a sick feeling for them ever since we found out. At least they're insured, but my father-in-law's new laptop is ruined too.

I almost feel guilty because we have been so untouched where we are just a few miles away(though our main computer has stopped working today, perhaps in sympathy with their laptop!) Still, if they can get out of their lane tomorrow, at least we can offer them warm beds and food. Let's hope the forecasters are right about the rain stopping tonight though!
