Oh no! The summer holidays already!

I can't believe it's here already! Today is officially the first day of my elder son's summer holiday and we've kicked it off in style - with my un-P.C. joke of this morning now explained (and don't I feel foolish!) and my elder son suffering from what looks like being tonsilitis again!

[More:]

I guess I'll start by explaining that this morning's joke should not actually have been about a leper. Due to my son's very poorly throat, I couldn't hear him properly. It should actually have been: Why aren't leopards any good at playing hide and seek? Answer: Because they're always spotted!

Now I've got that off my chest, I haven't much else to say. It's been a tiring day. (It's not helped by the thought of more than eight weeks stretching ahead of me to fill until my elder son goes back to school and even then he won't be full-time till October! That's a lot of time with two young children and no planned activities like toddler groups etc, so I'm not going to apologise for the exclamation mark overload inside these brackets!!!)

Anyway, despite having managed to submit two poems to resources yesterday, my third is still sat untouched since then. I have been working on it for a few weeks, but I'm not really convinced about it yet...

Oh well, we'll see what happens. I suppose now I ought to try and work on my next Writers Bureau poetry assignment. Either that, or I've been working on a few poems about the town where I live. The local shopping centre is running a town photo comp and plans to hold an exhibition next year. I'm wondering if I can persuade them they need a few local poems to place alongside the poems...wish me luck!

Ah, the holidays - and let us pray fervently for better weather; not that I should worry; I'm Nana, no bright ideas to find to do things with or for cross, tired, discontented children .. but come to think of it, my two always found things to do - not necessarily parent approved.
I hope you have nice holidays Sarah; I think I'm going to be baby sitting. A lot!

Have fun with the baby sitting! I suspect once my elder son is better, we should have no trouble filling the time as long as the weather's not too wet. They do play together, though not quite well enough yet as my younger son is only two. We have lots of friends though, it's just the time it takes to organise things, particularly when you're trying to fit in round people's holidays!
