Ant-tastic!
Well, I'll say one thing for the rain, it certainly seems to have solved our ant problem!
Every winter they disappear, and every summer they come back - until now that is. They had started to swarm into the kitchen again in April, when the weather was sunny, but I have to say I haven't seen any for weeks now. Hurrah!
Speaking of insects and bugs, my little darling was (of course!) wonderful in his school summer concert. He even sang (as opposed to standing on the stage and doing nothing!) and looked fabulous in his costume. I was very pleased, even though one of the children asked me afterwards what he was meant to be! (Well, they are only four, so what would they know about costumes anyway!
)
Despite a somewhat hectic, birthday party-filled start to the week, I am also quite pleased with the writing I've managed to get done. After typing up the poem I'd written yesterday for my nephew, I managed to make a start and almost finish the first draft of my short story. It is the first proper, new short story (as opposed to flash fiction) I have written in ages. (In fact, I think I've only written about two or three in total over the past two years since my second son was born, though my poetry has been fairly prolific!) Anyway, time for the hard work now, editing it!
