New Arrivals

I am now officially Aunty Sarah and I couldn't be more chuffed, despite a little sadness at knowing I probably won't get to hold my nephew until he's six months old!

[More:]

John Philip (presumably named after his grandfathers) to be known as Jack was born in the early hours of this morning San Francisco time. I have few details yet, given the geographical distance and time difference, but apparently the labour didn't go according to plan. Not that many do. In fact, I only know of one, my birth according to my mother. And, no, honestly I'm not making that up, I was perfect even then!!!;)

My new Writers Bureau poetry course also arrived yesterday and I've already started reading and getting my first assignment ready. I'm very excited and it looks promising, so I hope I'm not disappointed.

All in all, then, it's been a good end to the week, as I also found the most gorgeous, divine pair of black shoes today. An absolute bargain too. Bliss! They are open-toe so I have been busy painting my toenails already. Now all I need is something to wear them to!

Congratulations Aunty Sarah,

I'm sure pictures of the new arrival will soon be in your inbox shortly for you to coo and drool over.

Is the Writers Bureau poetry course inspiring? To my utter shame I'll admit I'm doing the full course at a snails pace. It's embarrasing for me to talk about it as I'm into three year figures now!
My main problem is that its article writing first, then prose. I have great difficulty finding markets!
I'd be interested in their method of teaching poetry though.

Maria

I haven't done much yet so will let you know. I suspect a lot will depend on the quality of tutor feedback.

Hello Aunty Sarah and congratulations!

Wish I'd chose to do the poetry course instead of the non-fiction as it would've linked quite nicely at this crossover stage from the Writelink Off Topic thread entitled 'After all my efforts!' It could've been an interesting conversion to my blogged category entitled 'My journey into poetry so far...'

You're already a successful poet, Sarah, and I agree that a lot will depend on the quality of tutor feedback.

Tried twice to read your 'Aving a larf' but something keeps going haywire - perhaps it's me! Must try to do the centering, too. Last week was a bad techie week, maybe this one will be better!

Yes, I agree the tutor is key! On that note I'll keep quiet.

Good luck with the techie stuff Marilyn. I shall go and see if I can read 'Aving a larf! myself, in case I've also jinxed that!

What could be better. A new nephew, and a pair of super black shoes.
And when you have granddaughters, you can get them to paint your toenails. It keeps them quiet for hours. LOL

Funnily enough, my boys decided not to help me but to paint their own toenails (they're still just about young enough to get away with it!). However, we did end up with varnish on the floor, which was ever so much fun cleaning!
