Who gobbled up my hotmail account?

Author: mater (add to friends)

Well, someone or something did - and I haven't a clue what has happened.

[More:]

My notifications go to my hotmail account and in fact it's really only used for Writelink business and keeping in touch with other members. I also keep that 32 number/letter long password on there, but fortunately I did jot it down, too, just in case (no pop-up box to ask me if I want the password saved, so I have to key it in).

Just as well I have that little notebook with important info. I logged in this morning to send Jean (Jak) a mail to thank her for a submission for The Pages magazine, and was told that I don't yet have an account, but that I can set one up. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I have a lot of saved mail on there that I consider important, and I like to check the notifications, too.

So, if you have sent me anything, I can't read it, or even access it.

On the positive side, I've caught up on nearly everything else on the net, and with The Pages - everything apart from my own writing. Yesterday's thumping headache has left, too - and the sun is shining!

googlemail is much better and they won't close your account down if it isn't accessed for a while. I've had one now since they first set up the beta testing site and i've never had a problem with it at all.
You get unlimited size mailbox and you can send an email of up to 10mb in size.

Also just make sure you typed in your hotmail username and PW correctly, normally there's been a typo made when an account that is regularly accessed goes AWOL.
Microsoft have been known to mess up though.

Sorry for your troubles, Marit.

I had to get Google Mail in order to set up a Google Alert for invisible text in my Constant Content articles (another safeguard against misappropriation).

It's also cross referenced to my Google account for blogger so I get notifications of comments there too. The beauty of it its the little envelope in my Google toolbar. It opens up to tell me I've got new mail. Very dinky.

Thank you all. I've set up a google mail account and have just changed my email address on here. I've also downloaded Firefox again, which makes that possible.
It won't bring back my mail on Hotmail though, so apologies if I seem ignorant and don't reply to e-mails. I don't get them.
I haven't made any mistakes logging in, nor has the account been idle lately (it was a while ago, but then they let me just re-register to the same account). I'll check now and then, just in case, but will use the google mail address from now on (as well as my usual aol addresses).
