Got in the long way round... (and some updates)

Author: mater (add to friends)

And a long way it was, too - and an even longer new password. Anyone know how I can change it?

[More:]

I can't find it anywhere. The system didn't recognise my old and trusted password - and sent the long one to my hotmail address, but somehow that had been disabled, too, and I had to re-register. Have I been away from things that long?

But - it's so good to be back!

And while I'm here: we're running a 'Stories for Advent' on , so if you should happen to have any stories or articles with at least a nod to the season, that you haven't got a home for - WE'RE READY FOR THEM! Was that loud enough?

Yesterday's, by Stina, I thought particularly good - even if I am biased (being her mum, as well as writing partner). When Advent is all done and dusted (with a sprinkling of snow), and it really is the night before Christmas, we should have twenty-four stories ready to turn into an e-book (and I'm thinking some illustrations would be good, too), to sell in aid of a yet to be chosen charity - for next Christmas.

Phew! Oh, there's more! Apologies this time, for the delay in producing the third issue of The Pages (for newcomers, it's to be found on theapprenticewriter site, too). Sue did tell me to be prepared for hard work, if I remember correctly!
I returned from hospital to find my laptop had sighed its last - almost. Trevor (thank you again) kindly told me how to access the files by connecting it up to the main computer's monitor - and it seems I got about half of them out before it did funny things again and had to be dismissed from service.
Meanwhile Stina's partner accidentally broke her laptop (tripping over the wire), but he has bought her a new one - and then her Internet connection broke down. Grrrrr. She got round that by going wireless, and has been back on for a few days.
My six girls and their partners are a great bunch - and they bought me a new laptop as an early Christmas present. The Pages are almost ready to convert to PDF on there, but I have waited for my ID code to install my new wireless connection for a week. I'll ring them today as I have rare day off - in the run-up to Christmas. With five of my grandchildren in school, I have five plays in three different schools to attend. Yesterday's was a brilliant modern - and local - take on Snow White.

And I've got a brand new grandson, born on November 1st, to my youngest daugther, Emma and her partner. Emma is our unofficial photographer for The Pages.
(You'll find us on Facebook, as a group, too.)

While I've got my talking teeth in; the photostory competition is not yet judged, as our judge had a car accident (she got away with a fright and bruises, but the car was a write-off)and I wanted to give her a little time to get herself back to normal. There weren't that many entries, so we may have to review the frequency of the competition. But the winners will be announced in the January/February issue. Promise!

Would you look at that? I was so happy to be let back in that I didn't know when to stop.
Stop. :D
