'The Pages' - starting an on-line magazine for writers and readers alike...

Author: mater (add to friends)

The Pages

From little seeds… You never know - from initial inspiration to a fully-grown literary magazine might be a little too much to expect – but hopefully it will find its way into a wider readership and grow in that way.

[More:]

So what are we about? In essence that is up to those who contribute to The Pages, but we, as the editors, reserve the right to exclude what we consider unsuitable for any reason.

Our aim is for our little venture to be a springboard for aspiring and apprentice writers alike, as well as a platform for the more experienced writers and authors.

We’re looking for an eclectic mix of quality writing and our aim is to make the magazine available on-line (www.freewebs.com/theapprenticewriter/), as well making it available to download in a PDF file.

We will also be looking for suitable illustrations, if only a few per magazine. The key is to keep it simple and not too colourful, in consideration of those who’d like to print it out (cost of colour printing cartridges!). For the same reason, we will limit the pages to approximately 20 pages, although that’s not set in stone.

Before you all inundate us with your contributions, we’d like to point out that we were intending this to be a free magazine, and as such we cannot pay contributors, but we will add one link (website or blog) after each contributor’s piece, and once a month there will be a competition with a cash prize, depending on the number of submissions.

If you would like to register your interest, please do so either on the above website, or here, in your comments, and we will add you to the list of possible contributors for the inaugural issue, due in July/August.

Any comments, good or bad, let us have them!

Thank you all! You have been added to our growing list, Linda.
I think I'm prepared, Sue - and Stina, too. We have been talking it over for some time, and suddenly the time was right and the final 'sprint', then the write-up of this blog, took less than an hour. That was followed by a large family party (two birthdays and father's day combined), before I worked into the night, to get things up and running. As long as I can work from my computer, I'm all right!
