A bad time to travel...

Author: mater (add to friends)

My daughter was expecting her partner's mum, as well as his 14 year old daughter about 4 o'clock this afternoon. It is 10.25 pm now and they have had to admit defeat and snuggle up as best they can in the car.

[More:]

They were travelling down from Yorkshire for a week's holiday down here in South Wales - and got as far as Tewkesbury - an hour and a quarter's drive from here - when the floods stopped them. They travelled about a mile in four and a half hours. There's no rooms to be had anywhere and they were told to go to a restaurant and bed down on the floor there, but it's absolutely packed. So they are in the car, and I hope they are at a safe distance from the flood. My daughter and her partner are keeping tabs on them via the mobile through the night, but it's a worrying time.
