PAST LIVES – Short story writing workshop

Ashby de la Zouch Arts Festival is supporting this one day workshop so the fee is unbelievably low!

[More:]

For a mere £10 you get the chance to take part in an action packed workshop designed to rip free the flood gates of creativity!

Taking place in the town’s recently refurbished museum on Saturday, 2nd August from 9.30 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. we’ll be using its resources to inspire spine tingling page turners through a series of exercises, readings and discussions.

The emphasis will be on fictionalising historical characters and events and by the end of the day you’ll know the basic principles of writing a competition winning entry and have at least the bare bones of a story for polishing in your own time.

What’s more, we can take up to 20 students as we have two workshop leaders with sleeves rolled and raring to go!

Sue Kendrick and Lois Crofton are both freelance writers who have won prizes for their fiction and poetry. They led the very successful Noveletteathon which set 14 writers the task of writing a novel in a day! The result, The Killing Tree, was published in time for last year’s Arts Festival with the initial print run selling out within two weeks!

Details of all the Ashby Arts Festival events are on the festival website, http://www.ashbyartsfestival.co.uk
