Embarrassment on the Web

Author: jak (add to friends)

Yesterday, I found two more pieces of mine up on the web that were purchased at Constant Content. The first, published here, was written specifically in response to a request.

[More:]

The other, on this site, is a bit embarrassing in these days of the credit crunch. I wrote it a couple of years ago and sold it soon afterwards for usage rights, so it is still for sale and I can’t change or delete it.

That’s one of the glitches at CC which I am campaigning to get changed. Just like our own Sue, the owner is very receptive to authors’ requests as he develops the site, but he hasn’t been able to get this one to the top of his list yet. I think it’s time for another email to support.

In case you haven’t the time, or inclination, to take a look, I’ll just let on that it is about a £1000 menu at a London restaurant, that was targeted at those receiving hefty city bonuses. I saw a piece about it on the Richard & Judy show and thought it worth researching and writing up. It has earned me a few bob, but of course the restaurant has discontinued it now.

I did send a message to the buyer to let her know, and she could have returned it or requested a rewrite. But she just went ahead and published.

Don't be embarrassed, I'm sitting here salivating over the thought of 80 odd cheeses. Unfortunately the accompanying wine (at £995 a bottle) would probably be wasted on me. I make my own, it's very strong and managed to seer off my taste buds years ago.

Well, thanks Nicola. That does make me feel better about it.
