I learnt a lot yesterday. Decided to support those New Zealanders in their protest that was highlighted by both Dave and Greg. But I didn’t know how to make black boxes in my post.

First I investigated Paint, and found the colour black, also a pencil that allowed me to draw and scribble. And if I scribbled enough, I could make some space black. But it was going to take forever.

So I looked again and found a paint brush which did the same job with much thicker lines. After some dedicated time I ended up with my black box. It was time to save my file. Paint allowed me to save it as a Bitmap. Well, I thought it did.

I knew I really needed to save it as a jpeg. So I opened Photoshop Elements and tried to open the file. But it wasn’t where I saved it. And I had already closed Paint. In my panic, I completely forgot that I could reopen Paint and open a recent file.

Instead I latched onto the fact that there was a similar paint brush in my Photoshop programme. In the folder I had open was a jpeg pic with a black background. I saved it as Blackout and painted out all the detail. Whoopee, I had my one black square. It was a bit small, as was the size of the original pic, but it was only black. It wouldn’t hurt to resize it larger, so I did.

Then I imported it into my blogspot blog as a large image. What I still don’t understand is why it has come out so small on the page. I obviously still have a lot to learn.
