Is it an Epson printer jak?
If so have a look to see if you have left the protective tape on the cartridge. Epson cartridges come with the tape on the bottom, over the ink outlet. OEM cartridges sometimes come with the tape (usually yellow) over a small hole at the top of the cartridge, remove that and it breaks the vacuam and allows the ink to flow.
Hope this helps

Hi jak,
This is why I use my trusty iLiad eBook reader for proofing! I can load my work on it and mark it up as though working on paper.
Also, Fileprint.org offers a great service for printing manuscripts. There's NO minimum, so you can order a single page or a whole manuscript or several copies of a manuscript. It's reasonably priced too.
It certainly saves searching for cheap ink cartridges, etc :-)

Jean, I got a Hewlett Packard three-in-one printer for £27 and I've recently seen them in Aldi for £79.
Mine was in the sale before Christmas, in Tesco, and they let me have it before the sale began. Checkout Pricerunner.co.uk and look out for Epsom, Hewlett Packard or Cannon and see what you can get.

I picked up a HP F2100 printer, scanner, copier for about £40 in PC World last summer. Serves its purpose but it's rare that I actually print anything off.

David, you should really print off now and again - otherwise the ink in your printer will dry up.

I'm economising.

I'm always economising, but sometimes we just have to give a little and bear the pain.

Thanks Trevor. Knew I could rely on you. Unfortunately that's not the answer. I removed the yellow tape as always.
Ta to others as well. I guess I'll probably have to give in graciously and shell out some dough. (You've probably gathered that George was too tired to look at it tonight.)
