World AIDS Day - December 1st

Author: jak (add to friends)

Yesterday was World AIDS Day when bloggers unite and join the official agencies in trying to raise awareness of the horrors of HIV/AIDS. My post about this in my other blog is here.

[More:]

One of the statistics I didn’t mention is that by 2010, less than two years from now, over 40 million children will have been orphaned by the disease.

I can’t think in those numbers. Trying to visualise a multitude of 40 million youngsters is just not possible.

They do have their own annual day. May 7th is World AIDS Orphans Day, although I wasn’t aware of it when it came around this year. Anyway I couldn’t let yesterday pass without making mention of that horrendous estimated projection.
