Action on Poverty

Author: jak (add to friends)

I had another tricky half hour when I couldn't log on and had to go through the change password thing again. But it all got sorted yet again.

Yesterday was blog action day for poverty. I wrote about it in my blogger blog. You can read it here.

Well if this isn’t one of life’s coincidences! I’ve just been marking some Access to HE students’ reports and presentations based on: Strife and Conflict. It’s a Human Geography module, and the students had to look at a conflict in the world such as Iraq; Afghanistan; Kosovo; North Korea; Zimbabwe; Rwanda; South Africa; Senegal; Sudan-Darfur; Ethiopia; Palestine-Gaza; Central Republic of the Congo; Angola; Sierra Leone or another African country where poverty has created problems. They had to identify the location of the country within the world, as well as its background and levels of development, together with an explanation/analysis of the circumstances of the conflict. What impact the conflicts have on people and the environment, as well as evaluating the influence of organisations trying to resolve the conflict(s) and the present situation etc.

It’s been really interesting and an eye opener for all involved – so I’m really glad to see this posting, Jean, thank you. Off to do some more marking now.

Hope you get the link sorted.
