To Keep my Photos Secure

Author: jak (add to friends)

This morning I was prompted to install Windows upgrades. When I tried to do that, I was advised to back up first. I realised that I needed to do that anyway as it’s been a couple of weeks. So I went through my normal procedure of copying anything modified or added since the last time onto my high capacity external disk. Everything was going well and I left the system copying over all my 180-odd holiday pics. Then I returned and – DISASTER.

[More:]

The disk you are copying to is FULL.

Clearly I need somewhere else to back up all my pics. I decided to join Flickr and undertook yet another learning curve. First I had to download an uploader. Then I discovered that, to get everything on there, I’m going to have to pay for a pro-version. Well, I could manage that. It’s only $24.95 and I have some dollars in my internet account. But in the meantime, in order to complete my system back up and get some work done, I need to do something quickly. So I selected 44 pics that are the most important to keep and have’t been saved for either of my blogs already. They are now on Flikr but I haven’t yet found out how to link directly to them without being logged in as me.

So, just for you, here’s anther one that’s not backed up anywhere else. It’s a plant that we saw a lot of growing wild around the coast in Menorca. It looks like bindweed except it’s this beautiful deep blue.

I'd suggest you look through your backup drive, You may have multiple backups on there when only one is needed.
You must have a masive amount of files on your pc to fill up an external drive. They are normally bigger than the C drive on your PC. You only really need to back up files and photo's, email's etc, not the actual programs on your pc.

Having said all this you may already know that, apologies if that is the case.

Lovely colour, Jean. I'm getting really frustrated as I can neither write nor moderate comments on my blog! I believe they're working on it...

Isn't that a wild potato plant? I can't remember the name now, but it looks very similar. Hope you get your back up problems sorted, Jean.

Trevor, you were right. I spent much of the day housekeeping the files on the backup disk. They were duplicated all over the place and now I just have one of everything and some space left.

Sorry for your problems, Paola. Hope it's soon fixed.

Lo - I don't know anything about wild potatoes. I'll have to find time to look them up.
