Blue-rinse Blogger

Author: jak (add to friends)

I’ve been having fun at blogspot. It’s easy just to blog there, but making it seem professional is much more complicated than what I’m doing at Writelink.

[More:]

As reported before, I wanted it so that I can register with blogsvertise and see if I can get any income that way. (Although Sue has kindly corrected my misapprehension that I could not do that here.)

Anyway, I set up the new blog last month with advice from DWR. He suggested I register with blogrush to get traffic to my blog, but they turned me down. I’m hoping that was because I hadn’t enough posts in the blog since it’s so new. They say I can try again after 30 days.

In the meantime, I have registered the blog with Blogsvertise and been accepted on a probationary basis. Now I’m waiting for my first assignment and logging in to check every day. I’m going to have to set up a checklist for all the sites I need to visit regularly.

I’m also learning about widgets and javascript and such like. It’s a whole new language to me. I always thought widgets were things that came out of cereal packets – and were marketing devices to get children to plague their poor mums to buy them, even though they were never going to choose to eat them for breakfasts. (And that little distraction has just given me an idea for the latest WL comp.)

So you see, I’m not only a silver surfer, I’m also a blue-rinse blogger. (But I hasten to add, my grey is all covered up by my warm brown semi permanent.)

It sounds good fun Jean. Hope it all comes together with blogrush too and good luck for the new writelink comp. I have to admit I read the brief and it had me stumped, though I have been known to say that before. There's nothing like a challenge to set the little grey cells working! ;-)

I'm in a similar boat Jak, as I've just put Amazon Associates adverts on my blogs, to try and get a little money from them.

Blogcatalog and Technorati are supposed to be good for getting traffic too, and there's loads others if you've got the time.

Good luck with everything and have a good weekend!

Hi Jean

I'm very surprised that Blogrush rejected you, but it may be as you that your blog's been up and running less than the requisite 30 days.

I don't know that mind had been running that long when I put their widget on. Although, I've had the blogspot page since 2006, but I cleared it compeletely just after my birthday in January.

Don't worry, you'll get there.

Thanks for comments everyone.

David, 30 days is the time between being rejected and being able to reapply. But their terms and conditions say they will not accept a new application for a blog with less than 10 or 12 posts. Mine only had about 4 when I applied.

Shows you how closely I read the Ts and Cs, don't it?

Hi Jean

Checked your blog this morning and found the blogcatalog widget. Followed the link and I've added it to mine, too. Thanks for that.

Jolly good, David.

My email from Blogsvertise also suggested the following. I haven't had time to check them all out yet. Doing too much work for CC and getting sales. (Yippee!)

Blogwise
Blog Directory
Bloghub.com
Blog Announce
Blog Listings.

I'm in awe of your skills and your energy Jean. I have enough trouble keeping up with one blog, never mind two or more. And since I had no idea there was potential for earning money from blogs then clearly my ignorance about them is greater even than I thought!

Earning money - blogrush and Blogsvertise, widgets and warm brown semi-permanents. Javascript? Oh God, I think I'll have to lie down to take it all in.
